The Machine

  • 28 HP digitally controlled, direct drive, independent work & tool spindle
  • Radial tool spindle motor is integrated into the hone ring casting
  • Robust cast iron machine bed
  • High thermal stability
  • High resolution encoders for work & tool
  • Quick change, hydraulically actuated  tool system
  • Easy to operate & Set up
  • Easily adaptable to customer specific automation

The Tool

  • Precision hone with an aggressive grit structure
  • High metal removal
  • Low tool pressure

The Process

  • Single flank honing
  • Work and tool are independent, axes synchronized electronically
  • Both flanks are honed without reversing (a small offset is made without stopping the axes

  • Lead, involute and tooth spacing are improved
  • Surface finish lines run diagonally from tip to the root of the tooth  - this interrupts irritating frequencies
